The concept of Pulse Leagues is quite simple. Here’s how it works:
The first step is of course to join a league near you.
Once the league commences, matches will be generated so that you rotate through opponents automatically, playing someone new each week. (Our leagues are 14 weeks long and we aim to fill them with 14 people, which means you’ll get to play everyone once before the last week, which is the final tournament.)
When you log into your dashboard, you’ll see a list of your upcoming matches, and you can submit scheduling requests and chat with your opponent to find a time that works. Because our leagues our flexible, you can play your matches whenever you want, so long as you play them within 3 weeks of their position in the league. (So for example, if a league starts on January 1st, you’d have until January 21st to play your week 1 game, January 28th to play your week 2 game, etc.)
When you meet up with your opponents at the bar for your games, you’ll use the app to log your scores, and the winner will have their placement in the league leaderboard updated accordingly.
On the day of the final tournament, we create the tournament seeds based on the league leaderboard standings. So in other words, by playing well – and playing all your games – over the course of the league, you give yourself a head start in the tournament.
Our tournaments are typically double elimination, which means that there’s a winner’s bracket and a loser’s bracket. (The idea here is that even if you go out in the first round of the tournament, you’ve still got more games to play) The winner of the tournament gets the glory and a trophy, and everyone leaves with a smile on their face.
That’s really all there is to it.
